We have a new to us 2006 Z4 3.O roadster with only 32K miles. I get intermittent amber lights on the dash, nothing specific seems to impact the lights. On some days, no lights at all. Other days the lights appear after a brief restart on a warm engine.

When we purchased the car I was getting a code for the camshaft position sensors, I replaced those and put in a new battery. Still getting the 3 amber light in the picture and no codes when I scan the OBD port. Any ideas, going crazy with this issues. Thanks.

A normal OBD scanner will not read the ABS module codes.

You need a scanner with BMW software.
- A cheap set up is INPA and special cable running on a windows laptop. Information on INPA can be found here: https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/installing-bmw-standard-tools.1322014/
- A Foxwell NT530 scanner with BMW software will do the job.

Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm. The Foxwell NT530 scanner has the ability to read the CEL more effectively than the generic OBD scanner I'm currently using? Just want to be sure and avoid wasting money on another scanner. Thanks!

I was finally able to capture the following codes with my current Launch X431 scanner:

5E34 DSC Sensor: Longitudinal acceleration

5E30 DSC Sensor: Lateral acceleration

Any thoughts?

They live under the passenger seat [UK RHD]. I would check to see if your carpet and insulation is dry. My money is on a leak and the sensor has been drowned. Hope I'm wrong as they are V expensive.

Under the seat appears dry, but there is water spotting on the side of the seat as if the seals on the convertible top might have failed.
