Hi there.
Planning on replacing my fuel pump with Walbro Motorsport 255LPH .
Any idea how the two pipes are removed?
Had a look on many forums google etc but want to double check the correct process as there are many types on the z3 e36
The green clip at the base do you push it in then pull up?
Or push the 90” pipe down then push in the clip inward.
Or put screwdriver behind this green clip then move outward at same time pulling up on 90” pipe.
Or just twist to remove.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to get my ducks in a row to prevent damage before fitting motor this Thursday (if it arrives in time.)
Cheers.
Ady

It's not a twist-to-release.

Press down to take the pressure of the locking mechanism, then press the two green buttons together, then gently pull the coupling towards you.

You can get a tool that helps. It looks like a pair of pliers.

Hello. I just picked up this old thread because I need to switch out the fuel pump on my 2001 S54. The part number is 16.14.2.229.672. Was that the one you were able to replace? Thank you

The part number your end is correct for S54 ..

mine is S50..

Very expensive too..
Give Cotswold Cheltenham BMW as they give discount just say myself a ”M3Cutter off the bmw forum“

Be honest the fuel pump looks very similar to my original which was replaced with Walbro Motorsport 255LPH and gives better pressure sort of upgrade ..
It’s easy to swop this pump out with the Walbro , but follow my instructions , especially make sure the “base of the pump with the filter ” protrudes out on base supporting this pump as high-lighted red in pic! Or will give wrong fuel level’s..

I will talk to the mechanic doing the job. Thx so much! Some sh*t drunk smacked into my parked car, and the original mechanic kept my car for so long and never started it up, so the pump seized. It's cost me a lot of money out of pocket - so upset right now. Hope this solution works!

Sorry to here that bud , some lowlife out there unfortunately!!

Check the relay first as they do fail which mine did !! mine was under the drivers side above the throttle, remove plastic above its in the far right corner green in colour only £18 from the dealer . Or swop out temporarily the horn relay as that’s the same (I described this in my fit list)
