Hi,
Apologies for my first post being one that asks for help, I’ve been reading the useful advice on here for a few weeks but the first time I haven’t been able to find someone with the same issue.
The Z3 I just bought had a radio that would reboot when turning on, would be fine in standby mode but as soon as it tried to turn on would reboot. Points to a power draw issue.
I could hear a clicking in the passenger footwell like a relay so took that apart to investigate, this is where I found out there’s a small amp in there! Now whilst trying to get to the speaker I left the ignition on and it kept rebooting and making the clicking noise as I hunted for it. But it eventually stopped making the noise, the radio would no longer turn on.
Now I’m trying to figure out if the constant rebooting has killed this little amp and that means power is no longer getting to the headunit? Or even with the amp unplugged the headunit still turn on?
I read someone who had this issue and it was battery related, but would that still happen when the engine is running? As that makes no difference to if the radio comes on or not.
Any help appreciated!
