And suddenly this came from no where and landed on my lap

Managed to retrieve it from my lap. I'd like to stick it back on from where it came but currently have no idea apart from...

A quick look at the BMW part number reveals it's off the rear view mirror

Could somebody take a look at their mirror and maybe post a photo of where the sticker goes??.. Somewhere on the back??

Thats your central remote locking certification
Shouldnt be there.
it can be found In the C-pillar behind trim panels (especially in E36 coupe/sedan)
Under the rear parcel shelf (e.g., E39, E38) or behind glovebox or under dash in Z3 models
You’ll usually find it connected to the central locking system and sometimes integrated with the alarm module.
edit - I see you have a 3.0 facelift.
so this goes behind the trunk trim, on the left side carpeted trim panel (driver's side in LHD cars).
You should see the module mounted near the rear shock tower or antenna base, depending on the exact model year.

Hey Zephyr.. That is extremely helpful I will take a look where you say and see if I can see any evidence (24 year old sticker mark) on the module..

I would hate anybody entering it in a a classic concourse show in 50 years time to be docked an originality point by the judge 😂😂😂

I entered this wormhole in the past and tried to bring to a concourse status a Z3. I finally gave up because I wanted to drive it and not clean it. I just can't empty my mind from all that knowledge I acquired in the proccess and is mostly useless. (except in such occasions)
