So after I blew a tire on my new z3 I realized the car has 245/40R17. This is the 2.3 model. Wondering if you guys think I should keep this set up or go back to the R16s I need new tires soon and I’m ok with getting new rims aswell. I hear larger tires help with handling and acceleration but on a non M model or not a 3.0 does it really help that much. I’d like to go smaller to maybe get better mpg as this is my daily. But curious what you guys think if it’s worse the hassle I also have noticed some fitment issues and some slight rubbing nothing bad tho.

You have to up the profile of the front to match…otherwise the DSC will have a bad hair day just when you don’t need it..

Not sure why you think smaller diameter wheels will give you better mpg? Plus if you have to buy a new set of 16" wheels, that'd pay for a lot of petrol!

To get better mpg’s out of a Z3 you have to gear it higher, less RPM at any given speed.
That means taller tires
Different gearing in the differential.
The Z was designed for close switch backs and high rpm, not econobox mileage numbers.
