I'd be careful with bumpers.

I think they add to the car, but they are only cosmetic and add a hidden length to the car. If you bump them, you will damage the bumper and the grp bodywork they are attached to.

They would be much better if they are attached to the actual car, then it is only the bumper that will get damaged.

I'm not sure about that Tribute 250s but the California 250s bumpers are mounted to the Z3 chassis and not the grp bodywork. They are mounted on the original Z3 bumper mountings so perform the job required in protecting the bodywork.

And if it's my one they are made up of three lumps of scaffold pole. :D

I am going to travel to UK in two weeks to collect the stainless bumpers and grille from Grassbank and also visit Chris from Tribute in Dorset as they will be working with my kit.
I have decided to go for the MG seats, which means that the black bucket seats that I purchased are up for sale. Asking 250pounds for the pair. Seats are located at Tribute Automotive in Dorset.
PM me for more information.

Take a walk around Grassbank's business. I found it facinating. He restores castings that have failed quality assurance. It must save industry millions.

Update on this project;

New 2,8litre engine has been fitted
Bottom of car, chassis etc has been blasted and painted
I have trial installed the kit and the fitment is not best and in some places it will require strengthening because the fibreglass is very thin in some places. I will also trial install the stainless grill, bumpers etc before I start working with the car but I see a lot of work infront of me during the winter.

I guess most work will be with the trunk and door gaps.

I see there is a big cap between the kit and original z3 body behind the rear window. Should it be like this or is the body not installed correctly?

How have you closed the gap inside the trunk between the kit and original z3 trunk? It’s like a 5cm gap 😁

I don't know about that kit, but I would say get the roof out so you can see better where everything is supposed to line up/ fit against.
The roof just gets in the way at present.

I got everything out of the way and kept adjusting the GRP until everything fitted (or didn't fit) by the same amounts. Generally the door skins are the best place to take datums from, as the skins can't move much, nor can the Z3 doors.

You have a lovely, big tidy space to work in, though.

Mine is 507-ish body kit and I must have had my rear section on and off 20 (or more) times. Couldn't figure out the gap across the top (where your hand is) then one day i had a toolbox under the bumper supporting the very back end and that top edge just settled down. Lifting the very back up slightly allowed that front edge to settle down. At that moment I glued and bolted it all in place.

The sides above the inner wheel arches. Yes. I have that gap too. I wonder if I should have kept a small section of the old steel wings but they're long gone. My plan now is to close it off with GRP sheet.
