Fuel Filler Surround Replacement

Hi all,

I noticed a split in the fuel filler surround on my Z3

I will order a replacement today but I thought I would ask how to replace it.

Do you need to take the surrounding panel off?
Any other tips for the process?

I am also questioning what happens with the roof rubber seal if the panel needs to be removed?
