My local BMW specialist reckons up to 1l per 1000 miles is considered acceptable. Maybe he was just trying to make me feel better.

Blimey, on that measure I should have used over 5 litres. Checked today and the level has dropped from max....by about 1mm

Thanks Gary appreciated. I do like a spreadsheet so a lot of planning went into this trip. What with 23 stops, the routes and different driving requirements for the countries we were travelling through it did take some time. Also the regs for low emission zones, toll roads and automatic ferry charges based on your number plate were a bit of a nightmare.
