I needed a new bolt and bush to hold the diff on, so I used RealOEM based on my chassis number.

The model RealOEM selected was CK92-EUR-07-1998, which seems correct (European M Roadster built after 07/1998)

Part numbers for the bolt and "washer" were 07119911694 and 07119904119...

The parts are wrong...

After A LOT of Google deep diving, I think I found the correct part number for the bolt - 34116772428.

I found it listed on an S50 Coupe (item 9)...

but if you search on the part number, it's not listed as fitted to any Z3...

Our cars could be getting so ol that there are going to be more anomolies like this. Just beware.

Off topic but I think that Casio scientific calculator was the same one I used for my O level maths exam in 1984.

It was ultra-cool in 1984.

It saw me through O level in 1980, AO in 81, A in 83 and degree in 88.

It's the best thing I ever bought. It does everything I need, and I don't think there is anything I've not used on it. It's a rare find in a tool. One that is precisely at your level - not cluttered with stuff you'll never use, and not so basic you have to go somewhere else for a function.

The correct part number is 34116772428, and was available in stock at Sytner Nottingham. The bush is not available, but was easy enough to make on the lathe.

Diff is now secure and ready for another run down the Mulsanne Straight :racecar:

fun fact the owner of the company I worked for in South Africa left school at the age of 14.
He had three casinos, more than a dozen exclusive hotels and a major share in the telecoms company along with some ships and a private property the size of Bristol.
He always said “best thing that ever happened to me was that teacher who told me that I was no good for school and I should be growing potatoes, well whadahaknow, I left school and started working at the fields, then I bought some land… and then I found diamonds in it”.
He actually found that teacher and bought him a house. For real.
