I rarely use the car in the wet but I was booked in at a car meet last weekend and the heavens really did open. Rain came in on both sides at the top corners of the side windows/A pillars.

I am right in thinking something called Gummi Phlege swells the rubbers back up giving a better seal? Is it a cream? Appreciate any advice.

Cheers
Grumps.

You may find that a liberal dollop of liquid rubber will be the only solution.

Along the top of the windscreen in the rubber is a channel amd in the corner, where I point in this picture, is a tiny hole.

Make sure that's not blocked.
Water should drain down through that hole and rin down the side of the a.pillar nside the rubber and exit here where I point with the screw driver.

It's a flap in the rubber. Open the door wide and get your finger in under the flap to make sure it's clear.

At the top of the a pillar is that rubber stopper. Take that out and male sure it's clean. Vaseline or gummipflege. Put it back in but don't gunk it up with silicon or glue or anything. You'll see a groove in the stopper water is supposed to run through the hole (top picture) down past the stopper in that groove and then down inside the rubber to exit by then screwdriver.

Make sure all the door rubbers are nice and clean too especially where the windows touch.

Vaseline will also revive rubbers too
Vaseline will eat rubber. Petroleum melts rubber.

Any silicone-based stuff (Gummi Pflege is silicone based) will clean and 'nourish' dried rubber and won't damage it. I use Autoglym rubber and vinyl care stuff. Spray it on a rag and wipe.

It's a rubber conditioner. It doesn't "swell" the rubber, but keeps it supple. It won't stop leaks for you, you'll have to diagnose the leak problem, ie, exactly where the water is coming in, and then sort it.

Try pushing strimmer cable down the hole at the top of the pillar to make sure it’s clear.

Cheers Bri, I shall give that a go before I start exploring further 👍
